The ExG Sensor can measure 1 or 2 channels of bipolar ExG for measuring EEG for brain activity, sEMG for muscle tension, ECG for heart rate or EOG for eye movement.

Electromyography (EMG) is the electro-physiological measure of a muscle, which has a direct relationship with strength at which a muscle is tensed. Mostly we speak of sEMG, referring to the measurement of superficial muscles. EMG biofeedback, also called myofeedback, can be used for clients with excessive or inappropriate (chronic) muscle tension. Muscles can respond to various stimuli, for instance emotions, bodily sensations or thoughts. It is also used to gain insight and even train the increase or decrease if muscle tension in different muscle groups during movement.

High stress levels can lead to clenched jaw, furrowed brows, raised and tense shoulders and/or clenched fists. Most often the upper trapezius or the frontalis are targeted. The training focuses on enhancing recognition of both triggers and increased tension.

Features

The ExG Sensor is provided with easy snap-on connectors for using various types of electrodes. NeXus sensors are supplied with shielded cables and brushed aluminum medical grade ODU connectors. This reduces noise and artifacts through movement. Measuring electrophysiological signals always requires a ground.

The ExG Sensor for NeXus offers:

  • 1 or 2 channels of bipolar EEG, EMG, ECG or EOG
  • Combine 2 sensors for measuring up to 4 channels of EEG or EMG
  • Snap-on leads for various types of electrodes
  • Shielded cables for a minimum of noise and movement-artifacts

The EXG Sensor is available in 2 types.

NeXus: for the NeXus-10 (MKI, MKII), NeXus-4, NeXus 32F. This sensor comes with an ODU Aluminium connector. Regular NeXus EXG is a Snap-On connector for which electrodes can be snapped on. For the NeXus it also available with a TP/DIN connector that requires a TP/DIN to Snap-On cable.

Q32: for the NeXus-Q32. This sensor comes with a black plastic ODU connector, only available as a Snap-On.
